Four Color Schemes for Peaceful Poinsettia Corner Fold Cards

I’ve been itching to make some Corner Fold Cards for Christmas with the Peaceful Poinsettia set, and experimented with the same design in four different color schemes. You probably know how much I love to play with color combinations. You may have even purchased the 36 Favorites Color Chart I created last month. So take a look at my experiments!

I used the very traditional Real Red, Garden Green, and Whisper White for the first card. Plus I added Mango Melody dots to the center of the flower.

I’ll post technique videos on How to Make a Corner Fold card tomorrow, so be sure to check back to view them.

Three reasons I like Corner Fold Cards:

  • The diagonal line made by the fold is a very effective design element,
  • Corner Fold Cards show off the artwork quite well,
  • And they make striking cards even with very little embellishing.

The second version still uses a typical holiday color scheme, even if you won’t find a poinsettia in blue and silver! The colors are Balmy Blue, Night of Navy, and Silver Foil.

This version uses Mossy Meadow, Rich Razzleberry, and Lovely Lipstick. The dots in the center of the flower are Mango Melody. Although it’s not the typical red and green, it still gives the flavor of red (Lovely Lipstick) and green (Mossy Meadow).

Lovely Lipstick is one of the 2018 In Colors. It’s so bright that I thought I’d never use it, as I tend to prefer Regals and Subtles. Same with Mango Melody. I’ve surprised myself by how much I’m using brighter colors, and Mango Melody has become one of my go-to colors!

The final version is probably my favorite. The colors are Rich Razzleberry, Lovely Lipstick, and Mango Melody. I wanted to use a color scheme that we don’t usually think of for Christmas. Yet the flower is enough of a holiday symbol that even the non-traditional purples, as well as the sentiment, make this a Christmas Card that will wow whoever you give it to!

Which version is YOUR favorite? Leave a comment to let me know!

One of the comments I often get on my Facebook Page goes something like this: “LOVE the colors!” Learning to combine colors effectively is an essential part of cardmaking, yet many papercrafters either struggle to make effective color schemes, or just use the same ones over and over.

One subscriber wrote: “I wish we had charts that show the best color combinations.  It would make my life so much easier.”

And so I created the 36 Favorites Color Chart. Learn more about the Chart, and how it can help you by using this link: 36 Favorites

Remember to check back tomorrow for the technique videos! I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing the Peaceful Poinsettia Corner Fold Cards in four different color schemes.
