Lovely as a Tree Makes a Great Fall Birthday Card!

Lovely as a Tree Stamp Set makes a great fall Birthday Card, Thank You Card, Friendship Card, Thinking of You Card, or a Thanksgiving Card. It all depends on the sentiment you add. Here’s a Birthday Card for a dear friend, using a sentiment from the Basket of Wishes set from Stampin’ Up!’s Holiday Catalog.

Birthday Card from Stamping Madly using Lovely as a Tree Stamp Set from Stampin' Up1

Lovely as a Tree has been one of Stampin’ Up!’s most popular stamp sets.  It dates back to at least 2004, which is the earliest catalog I have.  It could have been in even earlier ones, but I wasn’t making cards back then.

This is a very versatile set, with a variety of trees, leaves and a small pine cone.  You can use these links to order your own Lovely as a Tree stamps:  Wood-mount 128655, Clear-Mount 127793

The colors in the Birthday Card include:  Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Crushed Curry, and Cajun Craze.  The images were stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink (132708), then colored with a Blender Pen (102845) and Inks.  The Crumb Cake background was stamped with Soft Suede, using the Hardwood Stamp (133035).   Other items used include the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set (130517), Gold Foil Sheets (132622), Gold Baker’s Twine (141999), and the Regals Enamel Shapes (141681).

Since I wanted the oak leaves to fill more of the focal point, I stamped the image once, then masked that image before stamping again.  This is a great technique when you want to stamp an image more than once without having them overlap and look messy.  Here’s another example using the masking technique:

Leave a comment if you want to see how to do this technique, and I’ll make a video for you.  It’s a technique that many people ignore because it takes more time than just stamping one image.  But I think you’ll find that the results are worth the extra effort!

Here are a couple more ideas for using the Lovely as a Tree Stamp Set.  The background on this fall trees card was done with a brayer.
