Just Believe Swap Card

Tonight is my demonstrator group meeting and I thought I would share my card as well as the challenge I gave the group.

I used this photo as inspiration for the color challenge.  The bedding is from cuddledown.com.

Here are the Stampin' Up! colors I chose:

Here is the sketch:

It was a challenge for me to get all these colors into my card,
but I did it:

The Concord Crush and So Saffron together are very striking, don't you think?  That is because they are complementary colors–which means they are opposite each other on the color wheel.  Complementary colors usually look very striking together:  Purple and yellow, blue and orange, red and green, for example.

Of course it is hard to go wrong with this stamp from Just Believe.  I inked the stamp with markers to get the three colors in one stamped image. I cut it out with the 2 1/2" Circle Punch, and layered it with a Garden Green mat that I cut with the Circle Scissors Plus.  What a great tool!  I love having the ability to cut any size circle I want–you know how I just have to put mats behind everything!  It gives everything such a "finished" look. See below for more information about this awesome tool!

The Concord Crush layer was cut with the Scallop Circles #2 Die, then embellished with dots from the White Gel Pen.  The background for the flowers and the layer under the ribbon were both sponged to look like clouds:

This is a quick and easy technique that makes quite an impression.  Here is howto do the Sponged Cloud Technique:

Cut a scallop circle from a punch or die, and place it against your piece of card stock.

Sponge along the edge of the scallops with Bashful Blue.

Move the scallop circle to a new position and sponge again.
This is what it looks like:

Would you like to be able to cut circles of any size up to 6" in diameter?  Then this is the tool for you!  Just click on the image below to order your Circle Scissor Plus from my online Stampin' Up! store.

Next week I will show you the cards I get at the swap tonight.  Meanwhile, if you go get your fingers inky, they will look just like mine!

Happy Stamping!
