If you haven't used background stamps much, let me see if I can inspire you to get yours out and dust them off! Or order some new ones!
I know when I first started stamping, I would look at Stampin' Up!'s background stamps and wonder how to use them. I liked some of them a lot, but it wasn't obvious to me how to incorporate them into designs. Now I can't get enough of them!
Background stamps provide interest and texture to the background layer of your project. My current favorite is En Francais (Stampin' Up! #109521). This stamp is very versatile, and goes with a variety of design styles, from Vintage to modern. I think it adds a lot of class to a project! Look at how it enhances the very simple design in this card.
This card uses the Inspired by Nature (Stampin' Up! #111656) set. It is not a true background stamp per se, but it sure works great as one. What do you think?
Here I used the background stamp as a focal point instead of background. This stamp is Christmas Collage and was featured in last years Holiday Mini Catalog from Stampin' Up!
With background stamps you can cover a lot of card stock very quickly, and create your own designer series paper to go with any project you make.
Next week I will show you another card using a background stamp, which will be a sneak peek to the June Newsletter FREE tutorial. Be sure to check back!
