Here is a card I made using the flamingo image from the great Clearly for You stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog. The set has 12 small images that are the perfect sizes to use with the Beveled Windowpanes. My favorite image is the art deco style flamingo.
This design just came together effortlessly–I love it when that happens. Sometimes I have to try lots of configurations and color combinations before I have something that feels right to me. This one was a snap. But it took me a long time to finish this card because I wasn't happy with the results when I attached the windowpane in my usual way–a glue dot in a couple of the corners. With the plain colored backgrounds the glue dots showed way too much. So this is where the experimenting happened, and it took quite a few tries before I was satisfied.
Using the windowpanes with a ribbon is the easiest way to attach them. Here is a picture of that experiment:
I don't like this version nearly as much as the plain one. I think the ribbon interrupts the clean lines of the original design, although one of my stamping friends told me it added a quirky kind of interest to her. I would love to know what you think, so please leave me a comment.
I ended up using small pieces of in the corners–which do show more than I would like, but probably only if you are really looking for them! :D
I tried to just attach the Windowpane to the image with Crystal Effects, but it is a water-based glue and made the marker colors run. :( Next I tried a spray on adhesive that has worked well on Vellum, but you could see the adhesive. Finally I bought some spray fixative and covered the image with that. After letting it dry completely, I was able to use Crystal Effects without ruining the coloring.
Remember, leave me a comment and let me know which version you like better.
