Of course I’ve been busy coloring away, and thought you might like to see a sample.
With alcohol markers, the ink just glides onto the cardstock for a really clean and smooth effect. I made a quick sample of the same images colored with Stampin’ Write Markers (which are water-based), as well as Blender Pen and Inks. The camera picked up the colors in these two samples differently, so be aware that the card is just as vibrant as the sample below
The word “thank” was colored with Markers direct to the cardstock. The left half of the flower was colored with Blender Pen and Inks, the right half with Marker direct to cardstock. The The “brushstrokes” really show, and blending and shading don’t work well at all!
Color Lifter (144608)
One advantage to Stampin’ Blends is that when you color outside the lines you can fix the mistake with the Color Lifter. That’s kind of a misnomer, it doesn’t really lift any color. Alcohol Markers saturate the cardstock instead of sitting on top of the cardstock like water-based techniques. This is what the back of the cardstock looks like with flowers colored with Stampin’ Blends.
When you get some color where you don’t want it, the alcohol in the Color Lifter pushes the ink through the cardstock until it doesn’t show anymore. That’s one of my favorite features of Alcohol Markers!
