Christmas Cards with Lovely as a Tree in Snow

If you want inspiration for beautiful Christmas Cards, you’ll love this card using the Lovely as a Tree in Snow Technique. I made a video showing how to create the focal point, which combines the Emboss Resist and Blended Inks Background techniques. You’ll find the video at the bottom of the post.

Lovely as a Tree is a classic and very versatile Stamp Set. Stampin’ Up! hasn’t retired it in all the years I’ve been a Demonstrator. I found it in a Catalog from 2003, and have no idea if it was available earlier than that. (If you know when it was introduced, please let me know. I like to keep track of these things. Color me crazy if you like. 😉

You can see other cards using this set in these posts: Oak Tree in FallSponged Background, and Fall Leaves. (The first two of these posts have technique videos you’ve just got to see!).

You may have already seen the above card, as it was one of the 12 Weeks of Christmas Projects that went out to my newsletter subscribers. When I posted it on my Facebook Page, one of my followers suggested it would look great in other colors, and even as a masculine card for other occasions. I thought I’d share my variations, so maybe you’ll get inspired to try some yourself.

This one is made with Tranquil Tide instead of Night of Navy. The background inks are Pool Party, Tranquil Tide, and a bit of Island Indigo.

This masculine card is for friend’s birthday. I think he’ll love it!

The tree is embossed in Always Artichoke instead of white, and the background inks are Soft Sky and Marina Mist. The background is made with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Embossing Folder (143708), which was inked with Always Artichoke before putting the Soft Sky Cardstock in it. The artwork was only spritzed with water, not the Frost White Ink I used in the Christmas Cards.

Here’s the video I promised, showing how to combine the Blended Inks Background and Emboss Resist Techniques to create the Lovely as a Tree in Snow.

I have this set and use it all of the time. I think it’s been around since 2006. It truly is a ‘lovely’ set as are your ideas for using it. Thanks!
