The Falling in Love Designer Series Paper and the Lace Doilies just had to get together for a Valentine’s Day Card! A friend told me this card reminds him of the big lacy doily Valentines he used to make in school for his mom as a kid. So here’s a little more sophisticated version of those childhood Valentines:
Design Tips: The Designer Series Paper works well in this card as a background for the simple focal point. Anything more elaborate could confuse the observer’s eye about where to focus its attention. The Rose Red Cardstock has enough contrast to the DSP that the attention is drawn to it. Then it can explore the lacy doily inside the heart cut-out (Sweet and Sassy Framelits), the stamp (Bloomin’ Love Stamp Set), and the quirky hearts in the background.
The Falling in Love collection will give you plenty of soft, subtle patterns, plus some that are more busy and bold. You’ll love the patterns that are a bit out of focus, which make for effective backgrounds that don’t overwhelm!
You can see another idea for using the Falling in Love DSP as a background in this post: Dragonfly Dreams.
If you like doilies, you’ll love these little Lace Doilies. They’re laser-cut, very intricate, and a bit smaller than the Delicate White Doilies in the Annual Catalog. Since they’re Whisper White on one side, and Very Vanilla on the other, you’ll be able to use them with either color. That’s a big plus if you tend to use Very Vanilla more than Whisper White like I do.
Don’t forget about the Bloomin’ Love Stamp Set that was so popular in last year’s Occasions Catalog. It’s still available from Stampin’ Up!, and will inspire you to make some awesome Valentines!
