Handmade Vintage Christmas Card with Father Christmas

If you love handmade vintage Christmas Cards, the Father Christmas stamp set from the Holiday Catalog is a must-have!  You might already know this about me, but vintage/shabby chic cards are one of my most favorite styles to create!  I like to imagine finding Grandmother’s old mementos in a dusty attic, sprucing them up with new cardstock and embellishments, while keeping the old and dusty look to some of the elements.

Father Christmas is the perfect holiday set for vintage cardmaking and paper crafting!  Just imagine how much fun you’ll have making your cards look old and worn!  And if you love to color, these stamps will certainly keep you entertained!

Of course you don’t have to make the card look old and tattered.  The stamps themselves will bring the vintage theme to mind, even without all the distressing.

The Sahara Sand splatters (from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set) make it look like it got splashed with dirty water.  You can’t see the shimmery gold spritzing very well on the focal point, but it shows a bit on the Always Artichoke layer.  The Gold Metallic Thread and Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine emphasize the color scheme.  Don’t you love the way the Layering Ovals Framelits give the perfect size mat for the focal point?!

Father Christmas is just one of many awesome new stamp sets and accessories in the new 2016 Holiday Catalog from Stampin’ Up!  If you want to become a Stamping Madly customer and get a free copy of the catalog, use this link to fill out the request form:  https://goo.gl/forms/QlFLLYs8HFLb7FQg2

In case you want to learn how to distress cardstock, I found a video I did years ago showing the techniques I use.  The Distressing Tools I show in the video are retired by now, but you can find the circular tool in craft stores and on Amazon:  http://stampingmadly.com/DistressingTool.

Whether you like the distressed look or not, I hope you have fun making handmade vintage Christmas Cards in your craft room with the Father Christmas stamp set from Stampin’ Up!
