When you make a Valentine’s Day Card for a guy, you want something that says “I love you” without being too feminine. The Bloomin’ Love stamp set from Stampin’ Up!’s Occasions Catalog may not seem very masculine at first glance, but I was determined to use it on a man’s card just by choosing the right color scheme!
Yes, it features hearts and flowers, but I know plenty of men who appreciate both flowers and handmade cards! The colors are really what makes it work for a guy. The image is embossed in Early Espresso ink, and the cardstocks are Early Espresso, Tip Top Taupe, and Soft Sky. The Soft Sky background is stamped in Sahara Sand with a brushstroke stamp from Work of Art, which adds to the masculine style. You can see a video on this background technique later in this post.
Just imagine the same card in pinks and purples. That would be more of a girly card! You can see how you can create different effects depending on the colors you choose.
This is a Gate Fold card, which makes it just a little more unique. You can see a video below on how to make a Gate Fold card. The sentiment, which is too big to fit on the front without detracting from the focal point, works well on the inside, and continues the masculine motif.
The Bloomin’ Love stamp set comes bundled with the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits. I shared some samples using the bundle as well as videos with tips for using the Thinlits. You can see them in this post: Bloomin’ Heart.
One of the reasons I chose this bundle is that it’s so versatile. With several options for sentiments plus heart and flower stamps to embellish a card, it will definitely get a lot of use in your craft room!
