Make a Corner Fold Birthday Card

When you need to make a birthday card for someone special, a Corner Fold Card using the Birthday Blooms stamp set will really touch their heart!  You can see another card made with Birthday Blooms in this post from last week:  Handmade Birthday Card.  Add some more interest by creating your own background, using the Timeless Textures stamp set.

Don’t you just love the colors?  Lost Lagoon, Tip Top Taupe, and Early Espresso create a dramatic color scheme for the floral image. Then the Corner Fold frames it beautifully.  I recently did some videos showing how to make this Fancy Fold card, and I’ll add them at the end of the post.

With a Corner Fold Card, it’s tempting to add embellishments or sentiments to the blank space under the art piece.  Since it’s easy to confuse the observer’s eye about where you want it to look if these additions are too bold, I tend to create texture on the card front instead.  The Timeless Textures stamp set from the new Occasions Catalog is fabulous for this purpose.  Here’s a closeup.

Since I wanted them to be subtle enough to not detract from the focal point, I used the very light Sahara Sand Ink to stamp the flourish and what I call the “vintage edging.”  It’s third from the top on the left in this photo.

One of my customers told me that she would never have known what to do with a stamp set like this before she saw the backgrounds I create. If you like to create your own backgrounds, Timeless Textures should join Work of Art and Gorgeous Grunge on your stamp shelf!  You can see a video on using Work of Art for a background at:

The Pool Party liner looked way too plain so I added texture with the flourish stamp inside, plus the sentiment from Birthday Blooms.

Ready to make a Corner Fold Card?  You’ll need to work with measurements and fractions, but don’t get scared off!  In the Part 1 video you’ll see how to cut and fold the card.  Then in the Part 2 video you’ll learn how to make a template for marking the measurements on your card stock.  Then there’s a short Addendum video that shows a refinement I figured out after publishing the first two videos.

Sage, I’m soooooo glad that I got to talk to you before I ordered from the Sale-a-bration and the balloon book. I know, I wouldn’t ordered the background stamps. Boy would have been “red faced” if missed out on them. The cards are lovely . Your measurements are perfect. Thank you so very much
