If you love vintage style handmade cards, you’ll love the effect you can get with the Corner Garden background stamp. This is one of those stamps I just had to have so I could color all the flowers. At the time we still had Blendabilities, so it was a fun project, and you can see the results here: Corner Garden Card. It was so time-consuming to do all that coloring, that the stamp has been sitting on my shelf ever since!
Whenever there’s a new catalog of cardmaking and paper crafting tools and supplies, it’s challenging to pare down a wish list to fit your budget, no matter how big or small that budget is! So you need to think about several factors, which I explored in the post How to Choose Stamp Sets You’ll Use Over and Over.
One of those factors is versatility. How many ways can you use the stamp(s) you think you can’t live without? I’ve been wanting to experiment with other ways to use Corner Garden and finally got a chance last week. I’m already dreaming of other designs. Here’s the first variation:
You can create some beautiful background effects with Corner Garden. Here it’s stamped in Wisteria Wonder on Sahara Sand card stock, which made it subtle enough to be a background without detracting from the focal point. When the Wisteria Wonder 1/2″ Seam Binding and Sahara Sand Lace Trim came into play, it gave the piece a vintage feel, so I embellished the background to fit. The splatters (from Gorgeous Grunge) are stamped in Sahara Sand ink, and the edges of the card stock are distressed and sponged with Wisteria Wonder. But it needed a bit more pizzazz, so I brayered it with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint.
Don’t you love the shimmery effect? Stampin’ Up! used to carry Shimmer Paint, but retired it a few years ago. 🙁 Fortunately it’s easy to find online, here’s a link to it on Amazon: Tsukineko Champagne Mist Ink.
If you’re looking for a great background for handmade vintage style cards, Corner Garden will be a great addition to your stamp collection!
