If you like to make awesome cards, you’re going to love the Awesomely Artistic stamp set from Stampin’ Up! I showed you how you can use it for stamping a background in Friday’s post: Watercolor Wings. Today it takes center stage as the focal point in this handmade friendship card.
We’ve been looking at the topic of choosing stamp sets you’ll use over and over. (See this post: Choose Stamp Sets) One of the criteria I suggested for choosing new stamp sets is versatility. How many ways can you imagine using a set? If you can only imagine one way to use it, do you love it enough to buy it?
Here’s an example from my studio. Last winter I bought Love is Kindness, a single stamp from the Occasions Catalog. I knew there weren’t a lot of ways I’d use it, but I loved it so much I bought it anyway. One of the factors that sold me on it is that I love to color stamped images, and this is a perfect stamp for coloring.
Although I can play with using different colors and layouts, cards made with Love is Kindness don’t vary a lot. Look it up on Pinterest and you’ll see what I mean.
When you look at the Awesomely Artistic set, you’re likely to see several ways you might want to experiment with it. There’s a bit of a vintage feel to the images, with enough variety to keep you in your craft room trying new designs!
This card shows off the beauty of the new In Color, Watermelon Wonder. The focal point was obviously fussy-cut by hand. Then it was covered with VersaMark and Clear Embossing Powder which makes the flowers intensely vibrant.
I can hardly wait to get back to my studio to try featuring some of the other images in the next card!
