Janelle Varner is a dear friend and long-time customer, and she was excited to submit an entry for the Stamping Madly Cardmaking Contest. However, she has a tendency to stress out over card designs, and this was no exception.
She started with one element she liked, but had trouble putting it together in a card she was happy with. But bless her heart, she persevered, and submitted not one, but three versions of the card, including supplies and directions!
Janelle really liked the curved piece she made with Glossy White card stock. She embossed it with the Love Blossoms Wheel and then "floated" reinker colors on top to create an emboss resist effect. Here's her first creation. Click on the photo for a full-size view.
I love the paper-piercing she added to the labels! Be sure to leave your comments on this and all the Cardmaking Contest Entries. Although I'll choose my favorite for the $50 prize, I'll take all your comments into account when I'm making the decision.
Her instructions are very detailed, and rather than write them all out for you in this post, I'm going to give you a link to download them:
I'll be posting the other two versions of her card in the next few days, so be sure to check back and let Janelle know which one you like best!
Several items she used in this card are on the Retired Lists, so if you're inspired to make her cards and need any of the following items, be sure to order them before supplies run out:
- Glossy White Card Stock (102599)
- Love Blossoms Wheel (123839)
- Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder (120175)
- Elements of Style stamp set (w-118611, c-120045)
Many thanks to Janelle Varner for her Cardmaking Contest Entries and the great directions she wrote out for everyone!
