Hybrid Scrapbooking with My Digital Studio

Hybrid Scrapbooking with My Digital Studio (MDS) gives you the best of both worlds–create digitally, and embellish traditionally.

Two years ago, my dear friend Paul married his fiancee, Lina.  I was unable to travel back East to attend the wedding, so poured all my love and congratulations into a beautiful trifold shutter Wedding Card.

My wedding gift to them was to be a scrapbook, and their request was that it be not just for the wedding, but a book that would reflect their journey over the years.  Between waiting for the photographer to release the photos, my needing to buy a better printer, and all of us busy with other projects, I've only just started their book.  Today I finished the title page:

The center portion with the photo and background, was created in My Digital Studio.  The rest  of it was done in my stamping studio.  With my new printer, I'm able to get good quality photos and true Stampin' Up! colors. MDS makes it so easy to size photos and lay out pages that I finally felt ready to jump in to this project.

Hybrid projects are an easy way to combine technology with all your favorite paper crafting techniques.  You can see in this detail photo the lovely background under the photo, using one of the Decorative Overlays stamps in Crumb Cake on Baja Breeze.  One of the things you'll love about creating digitally is the ability to control the opacity of a stamp, so that it can be as solid or as transparent as you want.  I made good use of that feature in this example.

Once I printed the central part of the page, it was off to my studio to embellish to my heart's content.  I've not done much scrapbooking before–without kids and grandkids I haven't felt the incentive.  But I decided to approach it as if I were creating large cards that included photos.  Hence the cut-out flowers and leaves from the Stippled Blossoms stamp set.

I hope to experiment with some professionally printed pages in addition to the hybrids–especially since Stampin' Up! has just announced they've permanently lowered their printing prices.  Yippee!  Some items have been reduced as much as 50%That's a strong motivater to create all-digital pages.
