Serene Silhouettes on a Bright Summer Day

It's 98 degrees in the shade of my front porch, so I sat in the cool studio and created this card I call Bright Summer Day, using the new Serene Silhouettes Stamp Set.

Here are some design tips:  You can see how well the scored frames technique on the Island Indigo layers emphasize the image piece effectively.  There's no question where the eye is supposed to focus on this card.  The Daffodil Delight layers provide the repetition of color as well as high contrast that add to the powerful impact.  Click on this link to see the video on How to Make a Scored Frame Background.

I played with a background technique that is new to me, and love the effect.  It's a technique that's been around a while, but I don't know what it's called.  Leave me a comment if you'd like a how-to video.

Serene Silhouettes is a lovely new set in the 2012 Stampin' Up! Catalog

Just imagine the stunning pieces you could come up with using these striking stamps.  They're perfect for embossing, as I did in this card, or you can use them with our new Classic Ink Pads for well-saturated images. Black StazOn would also be effective.

Did you use the Mother of Pearl technique for the bg? It looks similar, if you didn’t.
