Handmade Christmas Cards with the Bells & Boughs stamp set from Stampin' Up! are a joy to give and receive, as well as to create. The timeless images make it easy to fashion a card of great beauty and elegance. I just finished this one last night and it may be my favorite of all the Christmas cards I made this year.
I started with the idea of using only two colors, Cherry Cobbler with a predominance of Very Vanilla, going for a lot of contrast. The embossing, and layered ribbons and buttons all create a great deal of texture that accentuate the color contrast.
The image was done in Pewter Embossing Powder and colored with a Cherry Cobbler Marker. The flower centers were done with Gold Lamé Pearlized Accent Ink. I added just a touch of spritzing with Gold Glow Smooch and the Color Spritzer with a Cherry Cobbler Marker.
You can see the scallops at the bottom of the Very Vanilla layer, which were created with Stampin' Up!'s new Adorning Accents Edgelit. This product is coming out in the Occasions Mini Catalog, which goes live on January 4th. It creates an elegant finish for the Petals-a-Plenty embossed layer.
I layered Victorian Crochet Trim on top of Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding, added a double bow, then topped it off with Cherry Cobbler and Very Vanilla Designer Buttons. The string is some Cotton Perle (not a Stampin' Up! product) that I bought last year because it is such a good match for Cherry Cobbler.
I don't suppose you're surprised that I love this stamp set, since it is perfect for the vintage style I'm so drawn to. Even without the distressing I usually do, this card has an old-fashioned feel to it.
