Stampin' Up!'s new Shaker Frames are a great new tool for easily creating fun shaker cards. What's a shaker card? It is a card with little things that shake! And a window to see them through.
I have to admit, Halloween's not one of my favorite holidays. But when I looked at this pumpkin from the Jack of All Trades set, and imagined it as a shaker card, I was inspired.
I was thinking of some kind of beads to put inside the pumpkin, but didn't have anything orange. So I took a pinch of Mica Flakes, spritzed them with a little water, added a couple drops of Tangerine Tango reinker, stirred well to coat the flakes, then let them dry really well.
It's hard to tell they're orange from the photo because they're so iridescent. They're only a light orange anyway, but with the Tangerine Tango behind them, they give the effect I was looking for.
I embossed the face on a piece of Window Sheet, using VersaMark and Black Embossing Powder. I wasn't sure if the Window Sheet would hold up to the heat, but it worked great.
For the background I used the Stripes Embossing Folder. The sentiment is from Grateful Greetings. I'm sending this off to my sister, whose birthday is Halloween. I think she'll get a kick out of it. And after all, at our ages (we're both in our 60's), we need an occasional kick!
Are you ready to try a Shaker Card? I made a video tutorial for you that I posted HERE, using snowmen from the Holiday Lineup stamp set. You can order all the supplies you need at my online Stampin' Up! Store!
