Handmade Fathers Day Card

Father's Day is coming soon, and Stampin' Up! has a great stamp set and Designer Series Paper combination for making handmade cards for Dad.  This card is actually a hybrid.  I used My Digital Studio for the focal point, the rest is non-digital.

The Open Sea from Stampin' Up!
I love The Open Sea stamp set and Nautical Expedition Designer Series Paper (DSP) from Stampin' Up!'s Summer Mini Catalog. This card should make any dad smile.

In My Digital Studio, I used one of the Nautical Expedition map designs as my background, but made the opacity only about 40%.  Then I superimposed the ship image on top of it.  I printed it on Naturals White card stock, sponged it a bit with some Basic Gray ink, and distressed the edges.

I used the non-digital DSP for my background, and used Basic Black card stock for the card base and the focal piece mat.  Bakers Twine and Eyelets finished everything off.

You can order these  and other products from the Summer Mini Catalog by clicking here to go to my online Stampin' Up! store.

We will be making this card in my studio class on Sunday June 5th here in Albuquerque. I have another hybrid card to show you tomorrow that we will also be making that day. If you can join us, email me at sage@stampingmadly.com to reserve your spot in class.

Happy Stamping!

Sage, you did a great job of combining digital with traditional styles. I don’t have that set in digital format but you’ve shown how versitile it is and how it can achieve a stunning project. Thanks for explaining how you did this.

Absolutely beautiful (can we call a masculine card beautiful or should it be handsome?). TFS!

Since a ship is a she, I think we should call it beautiful. thanks for your comment.
