Did you know that 167 years ago the first commercial Christmas card was created? Sir Henry Cole of England started quite a lasting tradition, didn’t he? Now we seem to be going in two opposite directions: Commercial cards are still very popular (Wikipedia says that 1.9 billion cards were sent in 2005 alone). But more and more people are turning to technology and sending eCards. And then there are the diehard crafters who insist on making every Christmas or other greeting card a work of art!
So what are you doing for Christmas cards this year? Leave a comment and let us know. Even better, send a photo of what you are sending out. I will post my favorite handmade cards here on Stamping Madly!
Here is a simple little card I worked up last night in honor of Christmas Card Day.
I have to chuckle every time I look at these characters from the Holiday Lineup Stamp Set. The bright coloring was done with Stampin’ Write Markers directly to the image, which was stamped on a piece of Shimmery White Card Stock with Black Staz-On Ink.
The Whisper White background was embossed with the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder. For bling I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the snowflakes and the tassels on the hats.
Now don’t forget to leave a comment and send a photo of your creations.
