Blue on Blue

The Royal Blog Tour has come to an end.  I want to thank all of you who visited Castle Stamping Madly, left comments, subscribed, followed, and oohed and aahed about the projects.  99 travelers commented, and many more than that visited.  All the other Princesses had many visitors and comments as well.  I think we are all resting up from the pageantry and thinking about drawing a name for blog candy.  I will be finding the winner of my blog candy tomorrow sometime, posting the name, and sending a notice to the winner.

Meanwhile, I wanted to post a card I made this weekend in between replying to comments and touring the Royal Paths myself.  I did it for a couple of challenges.  The Pals Paper Arts challenge this week is for a monochromatic blue project PPA40.  And I combined it with the Mojo Monday sketch challenge from last week.  Here is the sketch:

Here is what I came up with:

The photo doesn’t show the shimmer in the background very well.  This one shows the Crystal Effects on the roses better, although it makes the blue butterfly look white:

Here is how I did it.  The base is a 5 1/4″ by 10 1/2″ piece of Bashful Blue folded in half to make a square.  Then the background is from the wonderful Presto Patterns Designer Series Paper, which is now available for all to order in the Summer Mini.  I first sprayed it with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz, another favorite from the Summer Mini,  then sponged it with Night of Navy, Ballet Blue, and Bashful Blue inks.
The images are from Elements of Style, also in the Summer Mini, stamped with Night of Navy Craft Ink on Bashful Blue card stock, and embossed with clear embossing powder.  Then I colored the roses with Bashful Blue and Ballet Blue markers and Blender Pen.  I added Crystal Effects to the roses to make them pop, and couldn’t resist a little extra bling:  The rhinestones are from the Occasions Mini Eggcellent Eggs Kit.  Oooh, I hope Stampin’ Up! will give us some more rhinestones!  I am almost out of them.
The Night of Navy card stock is punched with the Scallop Trim Border Punch.  This punch is from the Sale-A-Bration catalog, which ended at the end of March.  So you can’t purchase it anymore.  However, it will reappear in the new Idea Book and Catalog which comes out on July 1.  It is part of the blog candy I offered for the Tour.
Now what would one of my cards be without a ribbon, I ask you.  This one is Bashful Blue Satin.  Then I used one of the Itty Bitty punches from the Summer Mini to punch some card stock that coordinates with the Bitty Buttons.  I love these embellishments:
I tied the punched Night of Navy card stock and the Bitty Button onto the Bashful Blue ribbon with some Silver Elastic cord (not currently available, it was in the Holiday Mini).
So there you have it.  Let me know what you think. Be sure to stop by tomorrow and see who won the blog candy.  And see the contest I have going for some more blog candy.
